This day was amazing and i think we outdid ourselves - we keep getting better each year (thanks to our teachers and our students)!
Obviously everyone loves this day due to the fantastic variety of food people bring in ! But apart from everyone having a delicious meal this day was special because everyone got the opportunity to find out about other countries and appreciate the multinational environment of our school.
Personally, I was involved in decorating the hall with Nataly- we continued our Different Nationalities Project - among other things we put up posters and flags, and made a little notices about interesting facts in different countries. For example did you know how many various dialects exist in China ?!
It seemed simple but it made me appreciate the diversity of our school. We have 41 nationalities in our school! It was especially nice having people come up to us and say "hey thats my flag!". I guess that everyone else got the same feeling- that it is nice knowing that your friend is from another country and can tell you things about it! I was decorated too by Jieun who draw two flags for me one of Armenia and one of Russia so I would be complete with all my nationalities displayed! I helped her paint the flag of Korea on students from year 7 because the number of volunteers was overwhelming!!!
Despite having so many different nations I think this day really helped the school spirit and team-building! Different food, different flags, different languages but one common thing - BIS!
I am glad we could help out and I really hope everyone had a great time! :) |
