Today, the Yr 11s visited our school and we had given the exclusive preview to the world of IB!!! It really gave them a chance to see what it all is about , the work, coursework, TOK and what we do for fun. For us the day gave an opportunity to plan several activities for them and ensure that they realize what the IB teamwork is all about.
Personally, I had planned and hosted an activity with Nataly which encouraged the development of their other senses ~ they had to , blindfolded, rely on the other senses to form various forms with a really long rope. At times it was absolutely hilarious to watch them , stumbling around, until I got a dose of my own medicine and had to join in on the activities – instead of triangle and I had made a half-hearted rectangle. J We had in total about five groups of year 11s as they switched around from the other activities hosted by my classmates like basketball, juggling. My Environmental Systems class had also given the Year 11s a presentation on what they will study at IB and a run down on what the Extended Essay and TOK is. I think they were , in the least intrigued, by the challenges before them. To an extent I can say that it was a little bit like passing on some of our knowledge which we had gained over the past year and a quarter. Hopefully we helped them at least bit.
However the best part of the day was when they actually got to see the amount of work we do – I think that really put things into perspective for them J
Thanks to all who participated in organizing the day!
