Well, Environment Day was a blast! It was loads of fun and I think we all learned something no? I can proudly say that during Nataly's and mine preparation for the debate we had really found out a lot the pros and cons of sustainable energy, especially focusing on nuclear energy. We had planned the format of the debate together and I guess you can say that we had collaborated all the way because our joined teamwork gave us 22 votes versus 3- But I should say that we had the easier side to argue we were for sustainable development and growth whilst the girls from year 11 had to argue for pollution - so I have to congratulate them on their great preparation , I dnt know if I could have come up with as many arguments as they had. The debate engaged everyone, I hope to think, because we had quite a few students from the audience voicing their opinions on what should be done to help save our planet! The other issues of global importance which I had addressed that day was the huge waste of paper in our school! I helped Mr Bailey organise several quizzes for the other grades which would help realize how big their ecological footprints are! Hopefully, we will use less paper! I had created awards for the most aware students who got the most points in the ecological quizzes and I am pleased to say we had many winners!!! I also discovered that I now know how to actually compose quizzes with special computer software - I think the fact that I was able to add pictures videos and other links made it more relevant and more interesting for the students. Last but not least Nataly Marlene and me decided to incorporate all the facts learned that day and all the pictures (for memories :) ) on our Environment Day board - we are proud to say that the board is now complete and everyone is welcome to read and see their accomplishments on Environment ! We also have our most prominent ecologists up there so be sure check if you are there ! The award ceremony was especially great because it brought all of the day together very nicely so thanks to Isidora and Maria for hosting it ! Hope everyone enjoyed the day!
